Canterbury Community Business Trust is a charitable trust established in 1998 to promote understanding of the role of social enterprises as a tool to build wealth in a community and asset based community economic development.
It provides training opportunities for disadvantaged communities and individuals facing employment barriers through education and training.
Past projects include an Irish bakery, home renovations, worm farming and recyclable shopping bags.
Current projects are:
One on One Driving Solutions - driver training and endorsements through contracted services to the Ministry of Social Development.
NFP Solutions - free community capacity building seminars to not for profit organisations.
Social Enterprise Institute - training and consultancy services to not for profit organisations wishing to establish trading arms.
The Trust has 3 trustees constituting the governance board. 2 paid staff whom manage the operations and service delivery contractors.
